The
SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE SYSTEM has been designed with complete cooperation with caregivers. It allows complete patient protection when needed, and yet allows the caregiver to allow patients to have egress ability when they are ready by allowing the system to be used as a “low bed”. Patient security can be managed by bed height as well as the number of sides that are zipped, giving patients the opportunity to be as safe and comfortable as their condition allows. When patients need complete protection, the SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE allows the patient to do everything that they would be able to do in a standard hospital bed except fall out. The enclosure canopy allows complete patient interaction with his or her environment and body while keeping them safe.

1. Full bed articulation. The SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE has a fully articulating electric bed built in – allowing a height adjustment from a low of 9” to a maximum height of 25” floor to mattress bottom. This provides maximum patient protection from fall injury during times when the enclosure is not zipped fully and allows easy of care when the bed is raised. The head and knee gatch fully articulate as well maximizing patient comfort.

2 .The SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE includes padded side rails and an 80” x 35” mattress for patient safety and comfort. There are access zippers at the bottom and ends of the SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE that allows the use of air therapy mattresses, compression boots, and femoral IV lines. There are 2 IV access ports at the top head end of the enclosure that allows easy IV access. There is a port on each side of the SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE that allows for Foley catheter or other drainage/access as needed.

3. The canopy is made out of stain resistant, flame retardant nylon and only weighs 22 lbs. It is one piece with foam padding protection built in. The canopy dimensions are 80” x 36” allowing a large manageable, safe environment for the patient. The netting is a specialty black material made specifically for Vivax. It improves visibility for the patient looking out and for caregivers observing the patient. It also eliminates staining of the netting. A major problem with other enclosures is that the netting is white and stains easily. Other manufactures solve this problem by making the netting individually removable, but this makes it expense to keep up. Our netting size is such that the patient can not put their fingers through it. Other products have large netting size to improve visibility, but this allows the patient to cling to the side of the unit.

4.  Access. The patients are secured using heavy strength nylon self repairing and self locking zippers. No additional external locking is required allowing virtually instant access to the patient when needed. Each zipper extends beyond the internal opening at the end of each track concealing the zipper from the patient and preventing patient access.

5.  Easy cleaning. The ONE PIECE SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE CANOPY attaches to the frame with 8 zippers allowing easy removal and installation for cleaning. The SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE canopy can be cleaned in a commercial washer. The only limitation is that it can not be heat dried, it must be air-dried. The designs of other manufacturers canopies require that you hand wash them. Of course our canopy can be sprayed and wiped down as well.

6. Patient entrapment. The SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE canopy has been specifically designed to minimize any patient entrapment issues. The canopy is what is called an inside-hanging canopy and it fits tight to the mattress eliminating gaps on the sides for the patients to fall into and get trapped. In addition, the bottom of the Canopy is made of a nylon mesh similar to a window screen that allows a patient to breathe through it should they put their head alongside or under the mattress. The mesh also allows the free flow of fluids – in the event of a patient is incontinent or vomits, the fluids will not pool within the enclosure, but instead drain out to the floor minimizing any risk of aspiration and improving sanitary conditions for the patient.

7. 300 lbs. Patient weight. The Safe Enclosure has been engineered to handle patients weighing up to 300 pounds. The frame is very strong, yet light weight, because it uses 1.5-inch seamless aluminum tubing. Other manufacturers use 1 inch or 3/4-inch tubing. The Canopy has also been tested for strength and can withstand the forces put on it by a 300-lbs. person.

8. Teal Color of Canopy. The teal color of the canopy and the overall dimension was chosen because medical studies have shown that blue/green colors have a calming effect on patients with cognitive difficulties. The dimension is critical and has been designed to create a small, safe, manageable environment for patients that need protection from injury. These patients find the SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE to be so safe and comfortable that they will frequently ask to be put in the enclosure when they feel uneasy. Rapid reduction of patient agitation and patient protection help the SAFE LOW BED ENCLOSURE   be quickly acceptance by patients, families and caregivers alike.

9. Overall external dimensions are: 93” x 35”
